BRZ is an entirely separate chassis with a bunch of parts exclusive to itself. All of the other Subaru’s across the board share a lot of parts, like the dash, instrument cluster, suspension parts, etc. The BRZ actually also shared the same rear subframe along with the Impreza IIRC.
Sharing parts helps reduce the cost.
Also, it should be kept in mind that the brz is a joint project with Toyota. If that wasn’t the case and Subaru developed the vehicle entirely without their help, then I imagine the vehicle would be quite a bit more expensive.
