JDM is a slang term son!

Seriously JDM was a 3 letter abbreviation that you would always see on Japanese press releases from honda.co.jp when they announced new products. That's where peeps on vtec.net picked it up from on the interweb. USDM was a joke term.

BTW there was never a need for the Acura brand in Japan because Honda has really well defined separate line-ups thru its three dealer networks; Clio, Primo, and Verno.

Toyota didn't introduce Lexus (Luxury Export to United States) in Japan either up until the 2nd gen IS. Nissan has Premium Factory.

Didn't Ronald Reagan caused the Japanese car makers to introduce high end exports in lesser volume due to US import tarrifs and the requirement of establishing factories inside the US?
