I personally think it would go against what the FT86 is suppose to stand for, like the car it takes its inspiration from the ae86 the car is all about driving exp and rewarding the driver with a balance and light rwd car

CVT would add weight as well as take control away from the driver and let a computer decide on whats best which ruins the spirit of a lightweight drivers car
