Ordered the knob on the 8th and received it today (11th). I took some detailed pictures of the knob in comparison to the stock knob. Weight measurement came out to 144g and 196g with the voodoo knob weighing less.
Didn't notice much difference in height with the voodoo installed. The new knob brought a major improvement in shifting feel though. Unlike most people out there, I prefer the attributes associated with a lighter knob—less dampening and more tactile feedback. This allows me to “understand” and maneuver the gearbox with more care rather than being oblivious to warning signs (grinding, notchiness, etc) and slamming a heavy ball into the gates. I’m also able to feel the velocity of the layshaft, which was much less apparent with the heavier, stock knob. This new piece of information, when used correctly, has allowed me to avoid issues like shifter not going into 1st/2nd, grinding of 2nd/3rd, etc. The volume and shape of the voodoo knob also contributed to the improved shift feel. Gripping the voodoo feels more relaxed, comfortable, and intuitive, with the shape of the knob being evenly distributed and larger in diameter. It certainly does a better job than the stock knob at filling my hand. I also appreciate the ultra-smooth, high gloss texture of the voodoo’s surface. It allows the ball to “glide and rotate” more freely within the cavity of my hand.
At $46.25 shipped, the voodoo knob presents tremendous value. I was pleasantly surprised upon discovering that this knob costs less than its competitors. More money saved = more money for other mods = win ^^
