That was a great deductive thinking, but in this case it only happens when using the paddle shifters to go from 2nd to 1st. When in D mode and not using the paddle shifters to slow down, there's no smell at all.

I could have sworn it was a DCT. Don't know where I read it but I was wrong. It's just a sequential automatic. I though my car did not have a torque converter because it was a DCT but it's not and it does have a torque converter.
I also assume that the torque converter doesn't lock up from 2nd to 1st when shifting, which means there's no wear and tear in the torque converter because it's just rotating liquid correct? If yes, the wear then is all happening inside the transmission on the brakes/clutches or there is no wear and tear when shifting from 2nd to 1st and the throttle blips?
