Just because the TCU doesn't allow the engine to overrev doesn't necessarily mean the first gear clutch/brake/whatever can't get hot from repeated hard engagement. I've never done it but if a downshift into first isn't preceded with a solid rev match, shit will eventually smoke.

Yes. This is a regular automatic transmission. The references I made were that it is not a dual clutch transmission and if it was it could take a downshift without smelling. At no point in time did I say an AT would not. I will give you the fact there are clutches of a sort in the AT but that does not make it a DCT of any type.
