Not really much to update. I had a working prototype of the hardware, it did produce low to moderate boost. I was working on the controller to tie it into the throttle position sensor, but life got busy. Got married, step kids, needed a more practical car so I sold my BRZ.
I’m now driving a Volvo C30 (factory turbo) so really not something I can/want to persue at this point.
I did do a little more research and I think the way to go on this is to use a geared/belt driven system to get higher RPM in the compressor then is possible directly driving it off of the electric motor. Rotrex actually now makes a hybrid supercharger that is designed to either be just driven off an electric motor, or to be spoiled up quickly with an electric motor then at higher engine RPM belt driven. Unfortunately the see this as an OEM type part to be combined with a hybrid/KERS style system and don’t offer and option for turners and hackers like myself to purchase it.
