You should probably think of it this way: two motors make the same power, but one motor has half the displacement and half the number of cylinders than the latter. Which one will be more reliable?
An eight cylinder cranking 400 pounds at the flywheel will, generally, be working a lot less than a four cylinder making the same figures, under the same aspiration.
The C38 has plenty of potential (most of the time the unit is under-spun) and I don’t think anyone on this forum has even hit the ceiling with one.
