I find the difference negligible between this and a good hydraulic rack like in the NC Miata. It is worlds better than most hydraulic steering racks on the road today.

Leather shouldn't be slippery and shiny, that's dirt and skin oil sitting on top of the material that needs to be cleaned off. |

Actually the answer was right there in Strat's Wiki link:
