Don't you think you ought to think this thing all the way through before you accept that some forum jockey knows more than twenty Japanese car engineers?

Not sure if crickets go for chicken salad sandwiches.
Diesel guys have been adding 2-stroke oil to their tanks for quite some time. Lubricates the top end and leads to better gas mileage. A lot of gasoline folks do the same for the same exact reasons.
I didn't go with the Lucas Top End lubricant/cleanser due to the cost. If this is going to be a common thing for a while -- while the 20 Japanese engineers get stuff sorted -- I figured I'd go with just the lubricant side of that Lucas product.
If you go this route, ensure that you choose a low ash variety. This will minimize the effect on the catalytic converter. Also, I chose a variety that did not advertise fuel stabilizers. This quality makes sense for your chainsaw but I didn't see the point in adding fuel stabilizer to the mix.
