Just noticed you're also in Santa Rosa Irace86.2.0! Yeah the handful of days a year when it barely touches freezing definitely doesn't warrant a heater. I got the DROC without concern of overcooling and in preparation for tracking and a supercharger in the future. I think your plan is fine as far as using the OEM one for now and adding the DROC once you boost. You don't do full 20-minute track sessions do you? I would probably recommend upgrading sooner rather than later if you do, I saw some pretty high oil temps with my last BRZ when I took it to Thunderhill even in winter.
