Again with the distortion. In the context of
comparing it to the AE86 they are both RWD, 2+2, coupes. If one is not considered a sports car then how is the other? A case could indeed be made that the AE is actually a hot hatch but that means we are breaking down the family trees into smaller and smaller subdivisions. If we want to play the subdivision game than the current 86 is a GT car. In fact it is even called such in some markets and trims. If we broaden the definition of sports car to include the hot hatch and GT cars then yes it is most certainly one. Since everybody likes to define the term in what most suits their ideals then saying anything is or is not a sports car can be a slippery slope.
