Exactly, my point. The ae86 wasn't anything special on paper, and neither is the BRZ/gt86. There are plenty of faster cars available with a lot more technology behind them. Hell even modern midsize sedans can outperform the gt86 in a lot of metrics. Many car enthusiasts can't comprehend why someone would buy a BRZ when they could have a WRX for the same price. With an unskilled driver the 86 is no better than most other hand-me-down cars (think of how many teenagers are gifted v6 mustangs). But with an exceptional driver it has the potential to compete with more powerful cars.
Both cars strip driving down to the basics and let the driver determine the outcome.
