The AE86 didn't win anything in the
1986 European Touring Car Championship. The Champion drove a BMW. The AE86 didn't win any of the individual rounds. Toyota won the manufacturer's points competition, which is one of those consolation prizes they give out so that manufacturers will stay interested. The car they used was so heavily modified that it bears little relation to the econobox you could buy for your daughter to drive to college.
