Adjusted for inflation both cars were roughly the same price new. Both are lightweight, economical, rwd, high revving NA 4 cylinder cars that can seat more than 2 people. Seems pretty similar in spirit to me?

Maybe in terms of exterior design? Other than that the 2000gt and gt86 are very different cars.
