Edit: I probably was not as low as 10 mph but was slower than anticipated because I was passing on the shoulder and needed to slow down more than planned to due to the fact the guy stopped instead of turned, i was already passing on the shoulder but was only planning to be partly on the shoulder. Might have been closer to 15 MPH to be honest.

Sure I was, didn't know how much experience you had with manuals. bending a rod is likely when lugging the motor too much though. From rumblings on this site this motor is pretty susceptible to it too, so I like to err on the safe side and keep the motor above 2500.
