This is an example of how a
qualified race shop can help you: less BS, not wedded to any particular producer, focused on data and facts gleaned from decades of real-world experience, etc., etc.
The race shop I've favored in the past will use appropriate parts,
from any manufacturer/producer/supplier, and the shop charges their cost + 10% for those parts. The focus is on making you and the car faster, and not milking you like a worn-out cow ready for the glue factory.
Always spend your hard-earned money wisely, and take the claims of manufacturers with at least a grain of salt. As to the latter point, I've found Essex Parts' expositions on brake kits and their components to be among the best available online. Would that every manufacturer could, and would(!), provide facts and data in as in-depth a manner as EP does. Full disclosure: I've reviewed an EP kit (for another platform, and with no punches pulled), and received a 19% discount on that kit for doing so.
