Am I correct in this assumption? I mean, I've read so many times on this forum that you should check all the tables to make sure things don't look all wacky before flashing. Sounds like the advice should be, make sure the tables don't look all wacky if you plan to edit the table.

Not trying to create any confusion around here. Just looking for a better understanding of how this all fits together. Any time I flash a rom I'm a bit stressed. A better understanding would certainly reduce my stress level a little. Hahaha
You are correct. From my understanding, the definitions are basically used to decipher the info in a ROM, and display it legibly. The ROMs provided by OpenFlash don't need to be opened in RomRaider or edited in any way to be able to be flashed onto your car, just make sure you the ROM with the correct CalID for your car.

Some of us have used datalogs as a basis to make changes to our ROMs to fine tune them, in this case if you change the wrong table or put in an incorrect value by accident, you can cause issues or possibly brick your ECU. So in this case you would want to double check your changes to prevent any issues.

I am by no means an expert so if someone with a better understanding can elaborate further on this it would be appreciated!
