My wife and I have had three cars at various times:
1. Wife/"family car" - VW GTI
2. My DD:
a. Porsche Boxster S 987.2
b. Nissan 350z
3. My weekend/track car - Scion FR-S
I can honestly say I prefer having just two cars, mostly because I've got a two-car garage. It was a hassle taking one car out of the garage when another was blocking the driveway. It was even more of a hassle when I wanted to work on one car in the garage and needed to move the other two outside.
So I ended up getting rid of the 350z and Boxster S and just kept the FR-S. If my next house has a three-car garage or a wide driveway, I'll probably add another.
