I am not looking at making the BRZ any quicker, unless it's simple like cold air intake and exhaust if those make any sense, but I mean I don't want to go FI route.

Going FI isn't needed if you're only looking for 30-50 more hp.
If you want simple, just an ECU flash will get more gains than a CAI or exhaust will give you.
ECU flash alone will get you 15-30 HP/TQ (depending on pump gas octane level) and remove most of the TQ dip in the 4k range.
If you did an ECU flash + flex fuel, you're looking at 20-40 HP/TQ gain with the TQ dip mostly removed.
If you then did the above + CAI, headers, over pipe, front pipe, and exhaust you'll be looking at 30-50 HP/TQ gains
The later options are not as simple, and they don't really gain much on their own without a tune.
It really depends on how much you want to modify the car, if at all. It's pretty fun in stock form. My motors stock, and I can keep up with S2k pretty easily in the mountains, they do pull a bit more in the straights but I get right back on them once we hit the corners.
