Well if you don't have an oil cooler like the cosworth Dev car then oil sits around 100C and can get up to 140C on track fairly quickly.

If you have a cooler even with a Tstat the trickle flow will likely pull oil temps dpwn the 80s which pushed oil pressure up a bar or so. And if the oil cooler limits max temp to 110C instead of 140C then that's about 3Bar!

So with no cooler I can see why a w30 or a w40 (what i used to run stock) would be required as pressure 0w20 is down to 3bar @ 7k when up at 140C.

In my case I found I was getting 7bar hot and higher when I was on the motorway and 85C oil temp. So I switched to a 0w20.

I did do some film strength sums a while back but w20 at 110C is better or similar to a w40 at 140C iirc.
