I've learned that, if your travel is limitied, you really tend to learn georgraphy regionally. That is, people from the southern US couldn't put the all the northeastern states on a map. People here in Pittsburgh couldn't tell Alabama from Georgia from Mississippi. Having spent most of my time in the south, I had a lot to learn when I moved up here.
A few months ago, I was flying out to meet the lady friend in Denver. Somehow, I had a connection in Chicago. Never been before, but I knew that it was in the state of Illinois. So, we're flying into the airport, preparing to land, and we cut this bank and all of a sudden I was like "WTF Is this big ass ocean?!"
