Mine is mounted with the factory parts, yet so that top of plate overlaps painted portion of bumper....though not the way they intended. No holes drilled to accomplish this.
Me as well! I think it looks goofy off to the side. Besides if at the tow hook it throws of the balance of the car and makes it dive into right turns.

So much for the OP opening statement of "We all hate having front plates".
