You plan to track it.

Do you need to set very fast times or enjoy the car?

If you need fast times get the Vette?

If you want to enjoy the car and work on getting to be a better driver the 86 is the way to go. Either a JSRC or Edelbrock kit will allow you to not feel like it is gutless in the straights, add an oil cooler for longevity and your only requirements are tires and pads for the track.

I sold an 08 STI when I got the BRZ. Bigger intercooler, turbo, exhaust, tune, blah blah blah. Car was stupidly quick, handled great and the first time I drove a BRZ I forgot about all that, they are just such a great driver's car. Some cars just speak to you when you drive them. Find someone with a C7 and drive it. If it gives you the same feeling as the BRZ I would buy it, if not you already own the car you need.
