That said, the instructions don't say to build the spoiler/risers to "solid", it says to attach everything loosely. Then place on the car, get all the nuts installed and then tighten everything.

The reason to have the risers attached loosely to spoiler is to keep there from being any chance of having the VHB lock the riser down to the trunk way out of alignment. There's quite a bit of slop in the trunk holes that the risers attach to.
