If it is just squeaking due to dry fork that is fine. If squeaking because it is going you are in for a rude surprise when it does. It changes things from a couple of hundred bucks for a simple bearing replacement to a couple of thousand for a whole ne clutch and flywheel.
I figured it was OK to wait as well.
