Engines wear. If operated within their design specs that wear is normal not "extra". When operated outside of their design specs the wear is extra. Simple concept. The difference in wear from running low RPMs as opposed to middle would be minuscule and worrying about it is silly. Don't lug it all the time and don't drive at red line for hours on end and the wear will be perfectly normal.
