Depends on where you're at in Maryland. I'm in MoCo, and they do care around here. You can speed on I-270 as much as you want, but you better have a plate on.
I believe the fine is ~$85, so you have to decide if that's a price you're willing to pay to not have it on.
I'd rather not get pulled over, regardless of the fine.
