My ex had an early Gen Coupe (2010 2.0T) and I HATED the clutch and shifter in that thing. It was so vague and rubbery, and the clutch was very light for a 200+hp sports car.
Out of curiosity, when I was about to buy my BRZ, I test-drove a 2013 Gen Coupe 2.0T with the newer more powerful engine, in the hopes that they had improved the shifter/clutch. Nope; shifting still felt like playing with rubber bands, and the clutch pedal was still light as a feather.
That being said, I worked at a Hyundai dealer for most of 2016, and it felt like there was a big difference on the newer 3.8L models. Clutch felt heavier than before, and shifter felt more direct. But I still wouldn't buy one.
