yeah, I typically drive barefoot, especially if I am actually "driving". Friday was just a bad combination of low temperature and lack of humidity. My pedals were ice cold when I got in the car, so I kept my socks on, but since it was so dry my feet were clearly moving around too much inside my socks.
Either way, I heard back from the shop, and they got the go ahead from my insurance to go ahead and fix it. Although they said to make sure claims has a note regarding the fact that my MAF housing was in a million pieces and there is a good chance some of them ended up in the engine.
