I just watched it for the first time a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised.
It's not like.. a rap movie for the sake of rap or something quite like that. Has a decent story and maybe even character development. It's a bit "ghetto" but I mean it's also "8 mile" road (I think?) in Detroit.
I'd give it a try, maybe, if you like trying stuff you don't normally watch.
