I autocross my car for starters. That means putting tires on the car that just make endless sounds of gravel hitting the inside of your fenders as you drive around, and LOTS of gravel being thrown up from surfaces that aren't anywhere near as clean as public roads. As it stands, I get gravel being flung INTO my car even WITH the flaps. I've literally been hit (painfully) in the face by pieces of gravel that bounced off of the mirror or window opening and into the car. I also drive in the winter, and they salt the crap out of the roads here, which means kicking up giant chunks of rock salt everywhere.

Here's what my car looks like from the front under heavy braking on my autocross setup. Note how far out the tires protrude from the body work at the bottom
