Well while yall were doing the SCCA Time Trials I got to do the drivers edge on the 1.7 CW. Since they seem to think that autox and SCCA tracks nights mean nothing I got to start in the Green novice group with an instructor. It was might first time running CW on the 1.7 so that might have factored in. On the first day I couldn't get more than a few corners before hitting traffic. It was rather annoying to be honest. I had a check-ride to move up to the next group on the final session of the day. So the second day I got to start in a different group, although still with an instructor. Most of day 2 was the same. Still the same issues with blue group. Did a check-ride to go solo and after a little over a lap got approved. The upside of the whole event was the last session when about half of the group had already gone home. Finally got a few laps without traffic.
I think the drivers edge group is great for someone that is completely new or someone that needs help figuring out how to drive a specific platform. The classes had information that was geared toward people that are new or haven't done much driver training.
Ill probably do another track event with them as it seemed like they were gonna move me up another group. Maybe it gets better in the higher groups. Otherwise I think ill be joining yall at the next time trials as I'm pretty sure they wont make me do the novice dance.
