I'd advocate for driving whatever the spec tire (if that happens) was rain or shine. Just like f1 or any other series that runs in the rain as well, there's always that large gray area when wets are slower than full slicks in the wet. At autocross speeds, you don't spend much time really worrying about water evacuation. The rain tires will feel more secure for sure, but I haven't run in the rain yet where somebody on a serious rain tire was actually faster, whether the dry tire was a hoosier or a Bridgestone/BFG.
It's frequently a flying elbows show, and spins/big slides would not be unheard-of, but I bet you'll be faster. IME, the quantity of rain that makes a lesser tire beneficial overlaps a lot with the quantity of rain that gets an official event delayed.
