Maybe @The Racers Line might be kind enough to straigten me out
Well, I can understand that if the clutch fork cracks or breaks, how it could stress out the TOB by pushing on it catawampus like.

However, by the way it is made, I don't see how it could flex, at least to any significant degree. Also, the arms of the fork are not "fixed" to the TOB, so there is some leeway there.

Maybe it's a chicken and egg thing ........ is the clutch fork wearing out the TOB or is the TOB wearing out the clutch fork .......

Chew on that cud fer ah spell.

Chicken/eggs/farm tractor/clutch ......... brings to mind a story.

It was a warm spring day, back on the farm, I was about 10 years old and was backing up an Oliver tractor to a disk and my grandfather was between the tractor and the tongue of the disk holding it up to make the connection.

I was leaning back on the seat and slowly letting out the clutch and backing up, when the tractor lunged backwards, pinning my grandfathers leg between the drawbar of the tractor and the disk. He let out a yell and I hit the kill switch on the tractor.

I ran to the house and got my mother and she rushed him to the doctors office (no emergency facilities within 40 miles).

I was all guilt ridden until my father got home and showed me where the clutch lever had broken off. He welded it back together, but I never did trust it again.

Lesson learned ...... NEVER stand in back of a machine when someone is backing it up.

THE END
