I remember I saw this parked BRZ a few years ago for the first time and thought it looks badass. Not to mention it's decently affordable too so that's a bonus. How about you guys?

You are not alone on any of those points! I knew I wanted something sporty before I got old and needed that minivan. Cost was the number one thing, didn't want to spend over 30k on a new car, was only going new because I knew a head of time I would never be selling. Styling, at least for me, ruled out any of the hatchbacks, that left sedans and sport coupes. Mpg was somewhat of a factor to me when I was shopping around, so it ruled out a few such as the wrx or the genesis. Test driving a mustang lead me to believe that size does matter a lot, did not want something too heavy, ruling out most of the muscle cars. So that left me with a few options: 86, civic si, and the Miata. Oddly enough I went with a half measure and went with the 86. With the Miata I just couldn't bring myself to say I would
never need the back seats, the trunk space, or the even general space inside the car. The SI I couldn't bring myself to buy one, and this was a combination of styling and things that came up during the test drive. The bonus for me was the rarity of these cars. Sure you will see them every now and then but its unique considering other sports cars, and considering all cars.
