What what I have heard to get times around 6 seconds you need to do a clutch dump which is above the torque dip... So you're dropping it around 5k.
Many of the mags don't feel like putting it through that much abuse. Other mags such as motortrend are not afraid of it and routinely do big clutch dumps to get the lower times.
They did the same thing with the WRX to get that 5.2 second time (or whatever low 5 sec time).
