>__Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (91W Speed Rated)__<

I'm 70 yo, soon to be 71...My 2015 Scion FRS is just under 3 years old, bought new, now 51,250 miles on the odometer...

I just replaced my original Primacy HP tires (at 48,000 miles) with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires in size 215/45ZR17 (same size as original equipment on my car). Tires ordered from TireRack were listed as W or Y rated. Tires received are labeled 91W. This is supposed to be for speeds up to 168 mph, yet the tires have a one ply sidewall...seems somewhat odd.

With no help from others I picked these tires off the TireRack website. I live where it rains off and on up to 7 months of the year. Because of the weather here I thought summer tires would not be a good choice. So I looked in the categories of all season tires, and sticking with the Michelin brand.

I had the tires installed in North Carolina and immediately drove the car here to northern calif. So these new tires have now about 3000 miles on them within just a few days.

The TireRack website compared this model tire to two other brands and stated this brand/model to be the hardest riding of the three. My impression of them is that they are possibly, actually, softer riding than the original equipment Primacy HP tires on my car.

>>My initial impression of these tires still remains...after 3000 miles...the sidewalls are just too soft...too flexible. I have lost about 1/4 of the steering feel which I used to have with the Primacy HP tires.<<

I did hit a frightening rain/hail storm east of Oklahoma City on the way here. Rain so hard I was often unable to see clearly even at speeds of 10mph. Well, the steering of the car became harder to steer in that heavy rain...I assume that means these Pilot Sport tires do grip the road very well in heavy rain.

I have not yet driven my car on winding back roads. I do hope the steering feel and grip of these tires, in dry conditions on such roads, will be likable.

I cannot definitely comment on the braking capabilities of these tires, yet with seemingly softer rubber than the original equipment tires, I'd expect them to brake better than the Primacy HP tires, especially in rain. Just pushing on the tread and sidewalls of these tires with one's fingers, one can easily tell they are made of softer rubber than original equipment. Also the 3+ designation is a newer compound than the former 3 designation...supposedly changed as customers complained of poor light snow performance with the Pilot Sport 3 tires.

Overall I am quite unhappy with this model tire so far. They are somewhat cheaper than the original equipment tires on this car, possibly grip better, but some of the driving fun is missing.

I'd say this model tire would do well on a high end luxury sedan, NOT a tire designed for a sports car or sporty car.

Bottom line, for now, I am stuck with these fucking pieces of shit...LOL.

Maybe I'll buy another Toy/Sub car with OE tires for dry day driving...OR do a little better research before buying tires next time.

They say...better safe than sorry...I expect this model tire will be safer in our winter rain than the stock tires on this model car...but the fun is gone.

Edit 9-25-17: Forgot to state this fun thing using these PS A/S 3+ tires...On my 3000 mile, mostly freeway drive recently...Since the sidewalls of these tires are highly flexible, I began to often steer left right, left right, up to ten times...swishing the tail of my car at speeds of 70-85 mph. Nice way to say thank you to truck drivers or totally scare suv drivers behind me. Hello, I'm now driving a Buick and can wag my tail.

Edit 10-9-2017:
Thankfully TireRack gave me a refund for those PS A/S 3+ tires.
I replaced them with OEM tires...yet one size larger. Michelin Primacy HP...size 225/45/17.
My steering feel is back in my hands now !
Primacy HP tires may not be as sticky, or as good in rain as the Pilot Sports, maybe also a harder ride, yet their sidewalls seem stiffer.
