Because everybody calls it that
(edit: "launch control") on this car I thought for a few years that it was actually launch control (which isn't SCCA allowed on this car because that would be a modification of factory traction control) but it's really a two-step rev limiter.

Edit: Just one of those things where marketing has 'tricked' the average enthusiast at this point. Like how the flappy paddles on the AT are 'just like a dual clutch super car!'
