It doesn't mean anything.
A large majority of these cars are sold in the US, Also a large portion of those cars are sold in California.
Subaru has pretty much no presence in China.
The import tax is around 200%
No reason to buy a car that isn't practical as your only car... if you could afford a 2nd or 3rd car, a Miata would be the better choice.
It's easier to discontinue sales instead of carrying parts.

In other news, Buick is a popular brand in China. That also means nothing.
