? thought part of the point of getting a manual was to enjoy shifting so it is odd that you think those are the only valid reasons to downshift.. you aren't even hitting 3 K RPM at 70 MPH in 6th gear so dropping down to 5th should be nothing and certainly preferable if ya want to pass quickly...personally I just stay in 5th and only go to 6th for longer drives on the highway. from my experience, this gearbox does not like slop with the throws or clutch work
