A quick update from my end - hope to have a fuller update next week.

I had two fill ups when I drove to Charleston, SC this past Monday/Tuesday - I was able to keep the handle barely cracked and got full tanks without much issue.

I returned to the dealership and discussed the situation with the Service Manager.
  • I pointed out that they scarred up my rims pretty badly recently when they put new tires on them.
  • I had to return to the shop for the spark plugs during the 60k service because they didn't know they needed Toyota plugs.....$259 just for the plugs......$138 for the plugs + $104 (1 hour) of labor......
  • I explained that the tire rotation they recently did caused the car to drift right when getting off power, and drift left when getting on power - pretty sketchy on I-95 during a huge rain storm.(bizarre right? they tried cross rotating and said that did the same thing - ended up putting back to the way they were when they first installed - I guess I won't be rotating).
  • I have put in a claim with insurance to have the entire front bumper piece / radiator to be replaced due to a 2x4 coming through the grill - that will be through their body shop
  • And....after doing research on this forum, it appears that it is likely the collapse of the rubber liner of the fill hose - saving them/me hours of troubleshooting. He said their lead technician had done some research and came to the same conclusion. They would order the part and put it on when I have the car in for the body shop repair.
  • I stated that some on the forum seemed to indicate that their issue occurred prior to the 3/36 warranty expired....but mine occurred as my 5/60 is expiring (clicked over 60k this week). I felt there may have been a TSB about this issue (he looked in the system - stated there was one from Toyota - that is why he didn't immediately see it in the Subaru system). I asked if it could be covered under the 5/60 and the dealership would need to get the $ from Toyota / Subaru. He stated that he has a 'Compassionate Fund' that he can use to cover the work. I think it helped that I have been going there since I bought the car - had a good relationship with the folks that work there, and they have not provided perfect service recently (the wheels and the rotation), so there was some reason for some compassion.
