If you're "lucky" and it's something easy like a screw not near the edge it'd probably be less hassle to use a plug and 12 volt air compressor rather than mess with the spare...can always get it properly patched later.
edit: tried to check out the part number for the full size spare trunk liner and it doesn't look like like it's readily available in the US? Figures.
