My guess is because metric.
Usually piping sold in 5mm increments, but marketed/manufactured in 10mm increments, 60/65/70/75/80, In merica' we use .25" increments- 2.25"2.5", 2.75", 3" Off by a mm or three, but close enough.

Usually 2mm(1/16") wall thickness.
