Not really. Yes, different turbine and compressor wheels will sound different but the biggest component of the "turbo sound" is the fact that you have a pair metal wheels spinning at ~100,000 RPM moving air. High rotational speed gives you the high pitch. The layout of the intake plumbing and air filter before the turbo controls the volume and the profile/size of the wheels themselves change the "color" of the sound.

The reason it sounds like a jet is basically because it is. At least it has all the major components of a jet engine, just with external combustion rather than internal.
