Haha hope i didn't fuck myself over for winter

How slippery are the PSS tires in the snow, even if I drive like a granny?
....Here in Maryland the weather is unpredictable, one year it snows a lot, others hardly an inch, but the winter only lasts 1-2 months.

I know summer tires are terrible during winter, but i'm wondering how bad. I don't want to switch tires either. Also I don't commute very long.

Will the salt/snow affect the tires grippy compound and cause pre mature wear and cause it to lose the grippy feel?
