86+BRZ is maintaining sales compared to last year, not declining. I'd call that an improvement on a 5+ year old design at this point.
Very few "car reviewers" have any deeper insight than you or I. The company representatives they talk to are talking to whatever narrative they think will invoke a positive portrayal of their company.
