Has the dealer or Toyota indicated that this should be covered by a warranty or warranty extension based on this history of ineffectiveness??

My warranty had expired quite a while back as I bought my FR-S in May of 2012 and did not extend the warranty. I have only paid for the original work so far, neither of the tank replacements have been billed and my rep explained that I only was to be billed for the first tank minus the labor I have already paid.
That said, I have not heard back from my rep since I called last Friday to follow up. That was when I was notified that Toyota engineers have been involved trying to find the root cause. In short, I have no idea what the final bill will be but you can bet I will be pitching a fit should they try to stick me with an even bigger bill.
