Many of my cars could not be heel and toed even if I had wanted to. My 58 Ford had no cover on the clutch pedal so it was about an inch wide piece of steel about 8 inches from the gas.

You tried to heel & toe with the gas and
clutch pedal ??...... no wonder you had difficulty ........
