Same for me ('17 MT BRZ Premium), the instrument cluster icon is always lit after hill assist is turned on - regardless of whether or not hill assist is currently in use (and stays lit until you again switch it off). It is kind of annoying that it stays lit, it advertises to anyone who gets in the car that I do have it on which of course opens me up to instant ridicule (not that anyone here would do that
).
